ABOUT THE SERIES
I am proud to announce the release of my very FIRST Limited Edition Illustration Print series, 'Written in the Stars'. My word, it’s been a journey to get here and complete each and every sign of the zodiac. Now they are all finally here!!! After months of learning, planning and illustrating, the last 5 zodiac prints are finally ready to be launched and complete the series which has been an ongoing project for over a year. I have been trying to figure out a way to connect my intrigue and learnings about astrology with my audience and also shed some light on this ancient practice and its place in our history.
The ball really started rolling back in 2015 when I was working on a book as part of a publication design unit that I took at University. The book that I chose to create was based on astrology and was a small guide for beginners to learn the fundamentals of astrology and its relevance in our culture. From this project, I knew that there was still so much more to learn and decided many years later to complete a course with an astrology teacher. I of course cant do things in half measures and immersed myself completely into the experience with an open mind. After an 8 week intensive course, I had broadened my understanding on Evolutionary Astrology, a branch of astrology which is based on the notion that we are all free agents while we are alive in this universe. Thus, we are responsible for how we work with the energies that the universe has given us and it is up to us to decide whether we will thrive and live our best lives, or fall into victimhood and not take responsibility for our actions. This was so powerful and was nothing like the predictive astrology that we are all so familiar with today. As my research and knowledge grew, I was able to do birth charts for clients and help them to gain more insight into their unique cosmic fingerprint as well as the path that they were destined to fulfil in this life.
As an artist, diving deep into the heart of any subject is necessary to be able to convey and express themes and symbolism in a way that is tangible and connects to the audience on a level that is emotional and intuitive. This is the gift that a true artist can bring to the world without having to say a word.
My goal was to create a disctinctive series of illustrations that depicts the essence of each zodiac sign as well as the divine feminine energy, a recurring theme in much of my work. As each and every one of us has our own zodiac sign, I wanted this collection to be inclusive and relatable. Each illustration has been carefully considered and designed in a way where collectors do not necessarily need to collect their own zodiac print, but can also collect other prints that they may feel drawn to. The pose of the model, the colours selected and the overall composition of each piece was created to reflect the nature of each sign and provide a visual understanding of what they represent. 'Duality' for example portrays the mirror image of a woman as she lies accross a reflective surface. In a less obvious way, this hints at the star sign Gemini which has the symbol of the Twins.
What are they?
These twelve special prints are high resolution photographs of the Original Artworks, which are then digitally edited for print purposes. Produced in a limited edition of 50 each, they are archival giclée prints on 308gsm Hahnemühle Fine Art Cotton Rag Paper.

Will my print come with a frame?
These prints are produced as prints only allowing you the flexibility to get them framed however you like and to your taste. They arrive securely wrapped in a bend proof mailer, with a certificate of authenticity and description card unique to each zodiac sign. Please take your artwork to a framer of your choice for a custom frame. These prints are fragile and need to be handled with care. To keep them as flat and clean as possible, please keep them in their packaging in a secure place until they have been framed.
Are these prints signed?
Each and every print by Alexis Steyn comes hand signed and numbered by the artist.
How long will delivery take?
You can expect your delivery within 7-10 business days within Australia after placing your order. International deliveries can take anywhere between 10-21 business days after the item has been shipped from Australia. We’ll make sure to send you regular shipping updates as soon as your piece is on its way to you.
